Foreign Minister Hor Namhong has called on Cambodia’s ambassadors to lift their professionalism and pay greater attention to the needs of workers abroad. “Our ambassadors seem only to work to save money for an easy life, having reserved meals, drivers and comfortable accommodation, less work. Work while also having a party, they work to cheer up,” he said, adding that he “just wanted to be honest.” Currently, Cambodia has 26 ambassadors and 8 consuls. Mr. Namhong also recommended ambassadors provide protection for Cambodians living abroad, especially documented workers and undocumented workers in Thailand and South Korea, as well as Cambodian women and fishermen in Malaysia, Indonesia, and China.
