Newsline: Former Belgian Ambassador To US Killed, Wife Injured In Brussels Airport Attack

Andre Adam, who served as Belgium’s ambassador to the United States during the Clinton administration, was killed in Tuesday’s terror attack at Zaventem airport near Brussels. The Belgian Foreign Ministry confirmed Adam was killed in the suicide bombings that killed 31 people and injured hundreds. The bombings took place in the check-in area at Zaventem airport and on a subway car traveling near Maelbeek metro station. Adam’s wife, Danielle, was injured in the attacks. According to a Facebook posting from Adam’s daughter, Gigi, captured by Politico, Adam died protecting his wife during the attacks. After his stint in Washington, Adam served as Belgium’s ambassador to the United Nations in New York. He also worked as a consul in Los Angeles during the 1984 Summer Olympics.
