China’s UK ambassador has called on U.S. and British politicians to stop meddling in the South China Sea disputes. In an article published in the Times, Liu Xiaoming says the South China Sea issue is being ramped up by those in the U.S. and the UK who accuse China of causing tension in the region. He says they proclaim the principle of freedom of navigation and over-flight, but in reality their prejudice and partiality will only increase tension. The ambassador says some countries have claimed to take no side, while never stopping intervention. He criticized them for accusing China of threatening the freedom of navigation, while at the same time provocatively sending warships and fighter jets to flex muscles on China’s doorstep. Liu warns these countries are posing a threat to world peace and stability.
