Newsline: US Embassy warns of possible visa scam in Dominica

The United States Embassy in Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean and the OECS says it is aware of rumours circulating that Embassy officials are in Dominica to process visa paperwork. The Embassy addressed the issue in a scam alert on its website. “Please be advised that our teams on the ground are focused on the evacuation of US citizens. Consular officers currently in Dominica are not accepting applications for visas. Anyone claiming to do so is likely a fraudster. Newsline: Panama and Dominica establish diplomatic ties

The Republic of Panama and the Commonwealth of Dominica signed an agreement to establish diplomatic relations. The signing was witnessed by OAS Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza. The documents were signed by Permanent Representatives of Dominica and Panama to the Organisation of American States (OAS), Hubert Charles, and Guillermo Cochez, respectively signed the documents which set up ambassadorial level relations between the two countries. Ambassador Charles said the agreement would not only strengthen his country’s relations with Panama, but also establish the viability of partnerships as a viable tool in the national arsenal. He added that after joining the OAS 34 years ago, Dominica had plans on establishing diplomatic relations with all member states by the end of 2012.
